How does your free service compare to your subscription service?

We believe that providing significant data and features to our free users allows potential customers to better understand what we provide and how our service can add value to a customers looking for distressed acquisition opportunities.

Our free service allows access to all business bankruptcy filings and a feature rich case search interface.

Our advanced service (coming soon) will provide:

  • Email push notification of new bankruptcy filings
  • Saved custom searches with email push notification when new matches occur
  • Saved cases and case monitoring with email push notification when docket updates occur
  • Easy export of search results and case data into excel spreadsheet format

When will your subscription service be available?

We are working hard on it now, but we don't have a release date yet. In the meantime, we are offering some premium features to current users on a limited-time basis. Specifically, free accounts can:

  • Receive nightly email notifications of new filings
  • Receive nightly email notifications of new matches to saved searches

These services will remain free until we launch our subscription service at which point we will notify existing account holders utilizing these features.

How does Business-Bankruptcies.com compare to other services?

Other paid services that provide access to bankruptcy data treat it as a premium service aimed at industry professionals and charge accordingly ($79 or more per month for the most basic subscription or as much as $500 per month for a premium subscription).

Services that provide bankruptcy information for free offer almost no features and data is typically buried among exorbitant amounts of advertising and among multiple pages.

We provide a feature-rich free service, and a cost-effective advanced service (coming soon) that provides push notification of new cases, easy export of cases and case information to spreadsheets, and unlimited case monitoring.

We urge you to try one or more of the other services and compare for yourself.

What is PACER?

PACER stands for Public Access to Court Electronic Records and is the system that provides online access to federal court records, including the appellate, bankruptcy, civil, and criminal courts.

The PACER system provides very poor search tools and does not have the ability to alert users when a new case matching a search appears, which makes it a very poor tool for business customers looking for continual up-to-date information on bankruptcy opportunities or who want to be alerted when a customer or vendor files for bankruptcy.

Why do I need a PACER account?

A significant number of documents is filed with every bankruptcy case. We don’t currently provide direct access to these documents through our service but do provide access to them by providing direct links to the documents in the PACER system, for which you will need a PACER account.

PACER charges $0.10 per document page, up to $2.40 per document.

You can sign up for a PACER account at http://www.pacer.gov/reg_pacer.html

What is the bankruptcy docket?

The court docket is where most significant information about a bankruptcy can be found, and includes all documents filed with the court during the course of a bankruptcy.

Typical documents include the bankruptcy filing (petition), statements of financial condition and periodic financial statements, and court notices, orders, and motions.

This is the best place to find out information about a company in bankruptcy.

What are the different types of bankruptcy?

Chapter 7: Liquidation Under the Bankruptcy Code.

Chapter 9: Municipal Bankruptcy.

Chapter 11: Reorganization Under the Bankruptcy Code.
